Lake Region High School is proud to announce our 2020-2021 teacher of the year Maria Boyer.  CONGRATUATIONS !!! We are proud to have you representing LRHS and serving our students each day!  Teacher Of the Year is voted on by the staff here at Lake Region High School.  Every school in the county votes for their Teacher of the Year.  Then in January there is a banquet that every TOY winner from every school will attend.  From all the TOY’s from every school in the county there will be one selected to represent Polk county in the State TOY.

6 ½ years in education (2 ½ years as an ESOL Paraprofessional at an elementary school in Lake Wales (Polk Avenue Elementary) and almost 4 years as an ESOL teacher at Lake Region High).

I moved to the US from Puerto Rico at the age of 19 not speaking any English.  I was, at one point an English Language Learner myself.  With hard work and perseverance, I became an ESOL teacher.
